To Determine The Concentration of chloride in the given water sample
Apparatus: Burette with stand, Pipette, conical flask, measuring cylinder
Reagents: N/35.5 Silver Nitrate, Potassium Chromate Indicator
Theory: Chlorides are found in all natural water in varying percentage. It's reasonable concentration is not harmful for human. At concentration above 250mg/l they give salty taste to the water.
Procedure:
I. Take 25ml of Water Sample in a conical flask.
II. Take 25ml of distilled water in another conical flask.
III. Add 10 drop of Potassium Chromate Indicator in both the flasks. It develops yellow colour in the solution.
IV. Titrate both the solutions using N/35.5 silver Nitrate solution till the yellow colour in the flasks is turned into reddish colour.
